People shocked at sexually aggressive lyrics from Madonna and Sam Smith’s new song

People shocked at sexually aggressive lyrics from Madonna and Sam Smith’s new song

'Vulgar' from Madonna and Sam Smith has certainly took the music world by storm

Ever since Madonna introduced Sam Smith to perform their song 'Unholy' at the 2023 Grammy Awards, music fans have been looking forward to the pair collaborating.

Now, that time has finally come as the pair have released a new single known as 'Vulgar' - though the track isn't without its controversy.

In fact, many people have been left shocked at the sexually aggressive lyrics, as the musical duo continue to have their critics.

While there may be some pretty questionable lyrics, Madonna does make some reference to some of her classic songs from years gone by.

"Let's get into the groove, you know just what to do," Madonna sings at one point, making reference to her 1985 hit 'Into the Groove' from the film Desperately Seeking Susan.

'Vulgar' is the latest track from Madonna and Sam Smith.

But after that is when the song gets a bit explicit, as Madonna sings: "Boy, get down on your knees 'cuz I am Madonna. If you f*** with Sam tonight, you're f****** with me. So, watch what you say, or I'll split your banana. We do what we wanna, we say what we've gotta. We're sexy, we're free, and we feel vulgar."

Another lyric is very reminiscent of Taylor Swift's 'Karma': "Vulgar is beautiful, filthy, and gorgeous/ Vulgar will make you dance, don't need a chorus/ Say we're ridiculous, we'll just go harder / Mad and meticulous, Sam and Madonna."

While the rest of the song sees Smith and Madonna commanding their subjects do the bidding, as Smith says: "Say our f****** names."

Madonna then rounds off the song with a rather memorable final line, she sings: "Do you know how to spell my name? B**** Go f*** yourself. You heard me, b****! Say our f****** names!"

On Friday (9 June), as 'Vulgar' was released to the masses, Smith took to Instagram to praise Madonna.

The pair have faced criticism in recent months.

They wrote: "VULGAR is a song that is very special to me.

"Me, the QUEEN, and a group of some of the most talented people I know, got in the studio the day after the Grammys and we created this piece of music.

"The creativity was pure and the energy was alive. I’m so excited to share this with you sailors!! VULGAR IS BEAUTIFUL!! Out everywhere now.

"Love you @madonna."

Smith has previously expressed their excitement at the collaboration, telling Zane Lowe on the New Music Daily on Apple Music 1: "Vulgar is one of the most exciting songs I've been a part of."
