Disney is being called out for removing Avatar from its streaming service weeks ahead of the James Cameron directed blockbuster’s re-release in cinemas.
People are keen to watch the flick ahead of Avatar 2’s release in December, but it’s no longer available to stream, and while Disney has not confirmed it pulled the film because of its impending cinema re-run, many fans are putting two and two together.
Calling the move ‘stupid’, one person wrote on Twitter: “I can confirm Avatar (2009) is not available here on Disney+ anymore. I think that's stupid but I'm not an executive.”
Another added: “So they took Avatar off Disney+. Basically any movie I thought I had access to and pay to have access to can just be removed from my library. Streaming services suck!”

A third social media user penned: “Disney Plus has taken off Avatar (2009) I guess as they're gonna re-release in cinemas and it just shows the importance of owning physical media or at least downloading it & saving it personally.”
“Not for nothing but also surprised by the lack of chatter on here that Disney+ pulled Avatar to boost ticket sales for an upcoming theatrical re-release. Everything on streaming can go away at the flick of a switch!” said a fourth.
A fifth wrote: “Put Disney on the f*****g phone they took Avatar off Disney Plus.”
UNILAD has approached Disney+ for comment.

The first trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water dropped back in May, and boy was it mind-blowing.
As the title suggests, the sequel will be vastly set in, around or underwater and the aqua-visuals are beyond anything we've seen on the big screen thus far.
The official synopsis for the sequel reads: "Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) have formed a family and are doing everything to stay together.

"However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans."
At CinemaCon, where the teaser was initially revealed, Cameron said: "[We're] pushing limits even farther with high frame rate, higher resolution 3D and greater reality in our visual effects.
"I wanted our return to Pandora to be something really special. Every shot is designed for the biggest screen, highest resolution and most immersive 3D available. I think we pulled it off."
