Social media users have been left perplexed after spotting the hefty price tag on a second-hand Chanel ‘shopping basket’.
As you’d probably expect from such a prestigious fashion house, Chanel’s basket bag isn’t quite the typical one you’d spot in your average supermarket.
Although the hardware does look pretty similar, given its silver-colour (it’s actually silver plated, in case you’re interested) it’s been wrapped with strips of black leather and is also adorned with Chanel’s interlocking Cs logo.

The basket, which was released by Chanel back in 2014, was spotted on pre-owned site Farfetch.
The listing for the luxury basket reads: “For AW14 [Autumn/Winter 2014], Chanel created its own supermarket to showcase one of the brand's most memorable runways.
“Forming part of said collection is this basket bag, wrapped with the maison's signature leather and chain-link straps.”

The baskets, which were available in three sizes, were modelled on the runway by Kendal Jenner and Stella Tennant.
Fancy. And if you fancy getting your hands on it, then you’ll need to splash out a whopping $78,083 (£64,885). A real bargain, eh?
A screenshot of the listing was posted on Twitter by Aussie journalist Sophie Walsh, who wrote: “And in today’s edition of WTAF”.
Responding to the tweet, one person wrote: “l'll take two. One for each arm. Or would four be better?”

Another joked: “Can't wait till they do a trolley version.”
Someone else quipped: “Is there a discount for buying in bulk?”
While a fourth commented: “Have they sold out? I want one.”

A fifth person added simply: “It’s a crazy world we live in.”
Originally released back in 2014, one of the baskets was seen on the arm of fashionista Anna Della Russo at Chanel's spring/summer show in 2015.
In a somewhat mind-blowing show of wealth, Russo used her shopping basket to carry two other Chanel bags. Innovative.
Alongside the basket bags, Chanel used its 2014 autumn/winter collection to showcase numerous supermarket inspired pieces such as bags designed to look like milk cartons, with pearl-studded 'lait de Coco' branding, while others were displayed in polystyrene trays and then covered with cellophane, similar to how you might see cuts of meat in supermarket fridges.

Oh, and just in case you are interested in parting with almost eighty thousand dollars for the basket, you’d better act fast as it's the last one available on the site. Go. Go. Go.
