Couple spark outrage by using pole dancers during gender reveal party

A couple from Moldova have sparked outrage after hiring pole dancers to reveal the gender of their baby.

In TikTok that has gone viral, a pair of pole dancers are dressed in blue and pink to represent the colours of each gender.

The dancers first performed an elaborate dance routine before the dancer in the blue popped a balloon to reveal that the couple would be having a boy.

The unconventional gender reveal has gone viral on TikTok and has attracted more than six million views.

The two videos posted under the account @mariap_poledance have sparked outrage from social media users who debated whether it was appropriate or not to hire pole dancers for a gender reveal.

One user wrote: "What?? Are they serious?"

Another user wrote: "Baby's first birthday will require you to bring dollar bills."

Comments on one of the two videos have since been turned off following negative reaction from some TikTok users.

However, there were plenty of positive messages left in the comments of the second video.

Many users pointed out that the idea for the gender reveal was unique, with one writing: "This is so cool and different I love it."

While another added: "This is the best gender reveal EVER."

Several users also noted the skill required to be a pole dancer and praised the dancers for their abilities with others writing that they want to see the stigma around pole dancing come to an end.

"I hope the stigma around pole dancing changes...thought this was so cool and personalised," one user commented.

Some of the comments speculated that the mother was also a pole dancer and the dancers at the gender reveal were her friends.

While not everyone agrees with the decision to have pole dancers at a gender reveal, it is perhaps not the most controversial way to announce the gender of your baby.

Over the years, there has been a growing number of outrageous gender reveal parties, some of which have ended pretty badly.

Last year, a couple in California faced criminal chargers after their gender reveal party caused devastating wildfire.

Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez used a smoke machine in September to reveal the gender of their baby, and placed it in a nearby field.

However, the smoke machine went on to start a fire, and due to the extremely dry conditions at the time, the blaze rapidly spread.

The couple pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and several other felony and misdemeanour counts. Their court case in ongoing.
