Gypsy Rose says her mom 'didn't deserve' to be killed

Gypsy Rose says her mom 'didn't deserve' to be killed

She says she regrets killing her mom as she is released early from prison

Upon her early release from prison, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has said that her late mother was 'sick' and 'didn't deserve' to die.

Back in 2016, Gypsy Rose was sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in the murder of her mom, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard a year earlier.

Throughout her early life, Gypsy Rose had faced years of abuse in which Dee Dee faked symptoms of various illnesses and cognitive issues to make it appear that her daughter was sick.

Dee Dee told people that Gypsy had multiple conditions including epilepsy, vision impairments and muscular dystrophy.

Gypsy was forced to use a wheelchair, feeding tube and oxygen tank and was subjected to a number of uneccessary medical treatments even though she had no apparent health issues.

Her mother also kept her incredibly isolated from the outside world, but Gypsy set up on a profile on a dating website, where she met her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.

And, in 2015, they plotted together to kill Dee Dee.

Godejohn stabbed Dee Dee to death in her Missouri home using a knife Gypsy Rose had given to him and the pair fled the scene.

Upon her arrest, she pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Godejohn is serving a life sentence without parole for first-degree murder.

Back in September, Gypsy Rose was granted parole after serving seven years of her 10-year sentence.

And today (December 28), she walked out of Missouri's Chillicothe Correctional Center.

Since the discovery of her mother's Munchausen by proxy syndrome, Gypsy Rose's case has sparked intense media interest, with countless documentaries and dramatizations being released over the years.

And, while in prison, the 32-year-old gave a number of interviews detailing her mother's abusive behavior. Her memoir, which she wrote while behind bars, is due to be published in January.

In a recent interview with People Magazine she said she was 'ready for freedom.'

Gypsy Rose also spoke about how she regretted killing her mom. "Nobody will ever hear me say I'm glad she's dead or I'm proud of what I did. I regret it every single day.

Ahead of her early release, Gypsy Rose told People Magazine that her mom 'didn't deserve' to die.

"If I had another chance to redo everything, I don't know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I'm not sick and mommy makes me sick," she explained. "Or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, 'You know what, I'm going to go tell the police everything.' I kind of struggle with that."

She continued: "She didn't deserve [to die]. She was a sick woman and unfortunately I wasn't educated enough to see that. She deserved to be where I am, sitting in prison doing time for criminal behavior."
