David Spade presented the award for Best Kiss at last night’s (5 June) MTV Movie Awards, and it's fair to say he caused a stir when he discovered who the winner was.
Jackass Forever star Poopies scooped the gong for locking lips with a Texas rattlesnake, much to Spade's dismay – and the actor didn’t hold back when expressing his surprise.
Spade was heard asking: “They beat Zendaya?” in disbelief to his co-presenter Sarah Shahi.

Audio of Spade’s microphone picking up his response has been doing the rounds on social media, with many users also in agreement that the award should have gone to Zendaya and Tom Holland for their Spider-Man: No Way Home smooch.
On person quipped: “Tom and Zendaya: *give us the most heartbreaking, passionate goodbye kiss between two characters that leaves half the mcu fandom in deep emotional agony for several months*. MTV: lol, snake bite man.”
Another wrote: “So is MTV just giving the awards to whoever actually showed up to this low budget ass show? Because I know Zendaya & Tom had Best Kiss in the bag.”
Others found Spade’s response hilarious, with a third social media user writing: “David Spade saying: ‘they beat Zendaya’ when he announced the best kiss at the MTV Movie Awards is the funniest s**t I heard today.”

However, the highlight of last night’s awards ceremony was undoubtedly the emotional speech given by Jennifer Lopez when she took to the stage to pick up the Generation Award.
Accepting the milestone trophy, the singer took the opportunity to thank her coworkers over the years, saying: “You’re only as good as the people you work with and if you’re lucky they make you better, and I have been very lucky in that regard.”

Lopez went on: "I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart.
“The ones who were true and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love and I want to thank the way I lied to myself – because that’s how I knew I could grow.”
Elsewhere, a sneak peek of the upcoming Hunger Games prequel was revealed during the ceremony, much to the delight of fans.
The trailer revealed The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes would also be set during another Hunger Games tournament, while unveiling a golden snake and songbird captured in frosty snow.
