As Twitter is set to lay off an unfathomable amount of employees today, some are comparing the new owner, Elon Musk, to the supervillain Thanos.
The tech mogul has done some pretty chaotic things since taking up his post as Chief Twit in the last week.
He brought a sink in on his first day, announced plans to charge for blue tick verification, has imposed crippling working hours, and now half of the Twitter workforce's jobs could be at risk.

Musk's first day might've been a bad omen:
Yep, pretty easy to see where the comparisons to a Marvel villain come in.
First, let's jump into what's going down on Twitter today.

An internal email seen by The Washington Post allegedly states: “Team, in an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday.
"We recognise that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is, unfortunately, necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward."
People with knowledge of the matter' have told Bloomberg this mass firing - which is expected to see around 3,700 jobs be eliminated - is designed to cut costs and ensure Twitter has a viable financial future.

Staff have reportedly been told not to come into work on Friday (4 November) and those affected by the cuts will be informed they've been let go at 9 am.
The leaked email allegedly continued: “We acknowledge this is an incredibly challenging experience to go through, whether or not you are impacted.
“We are grateful for your contributions to Twitter and for your patience as we move through this process.”
Yep, not exactly what you want to read early on a Friday morning.

And this led to a bunch of employees logging off of Twitter's slack channels yesterday (3 November), using the salute emoji and posting Thanos memes.
Journalist Casey Newton reported: "In Slack, dozens of employees are posting the [salute] emoji as a possible farewell.
"Anticipating the loss of half their colleagues, some have begun calling Friday “The Snap” and posting Thanos memes."

For anyone not familiar, the Snap was the crux of Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos completed the Infinity Gauntlet and snapped his fingers to get his ultimate wish.
The MCU villain wanted to eliminate half of every living creature in the universe because he thought it was a little too crowded - sound like someone we know?
What do you think of Musk's latest move and are you going to be hanging around the social media site to see what happens next?
