A huge fire has broken out in a skyscraper in the Chinese city of Changsha, with the number of casualties currently unknown.
In footage that has gone viral on social media, the whole building is seen to be engulfed by flames with black smoke billowing into the distance.

State broadcaster CCTV have been reporting on the incident, stating: "Thick smoke is spewing from the site, and several dozen floors are burning ferociously.

"Firefighters have begun work to extinguish the flames and conduct rescues at the scene."
It has also emerged that the skyscraper houses an office of state-owned telecommunications company, China Telecom.
Further footage released by a local news outlet appears to show one side of the building has turned charcoal black as people inside the building look to make an escape.

Other footage from the media company Nexta shows the perspective of someone inside the building as the fire starts to spread.
The worker is heard talking to one of his colleagues as people attempting to escape in the background can be heard screaming.
A China Telecom statement reported by AFP news agency read: "By around 4:30 pm today, the fire at our No. 2 Communications Tower in Changsha has been extinguished. No casualties have yet been discovered and communications have not been cut off.
The fire has since been extinguished, but there is a continued silence on potential casualties from his horrifying incident, as well as the cause.

The province's fire department released the followed statement on social media: "At present, the fire has been extinguished, and we have not yet discovered any casualties."
There has still been no word from officials on the cause of the fire as the extent of the damage begins to dawn on the region.
According to state media, the building was completed in the year 2000 and is near a major ring road in Changsha. The capital of Human province, the city of Changsha, has a population of around 10 million people.

Big fires are not uncommon in China as earlier this year, a large fire broke out at a chemical plant in Shanghai, which left one person dead.
