A news anchor somehow managed to keep her cool after she swallowed a fly live on-air.

Canada’s Global News host, Farah Nasser, barely flinched as the fly buzzed into her mouth, somehow managing to continue to read her script without a sweat.

Within seconds, she quickly cleared her throat and 'kept calm and carried on'.

Nasser brilliantly poked fun at herself on Twitter while referencing Canada Premier, Doug Ford, who recently swallowed a bee at a news conference.

She wrote: "Sharing because we all need a laugh these days. Turns out it's not just @fordnation, I swallowed a fly on air today. (Very much a first world problem given the story I'm introducing)."

Nasser also told CNN: “I could feel it fluttering in the back of my throat as I finished that introduction.”

Viewers were full of praise for the news host, with one person commenting: "Like a champ Far. Was it a fruit fly? House fly?"

"Regular fly. It was so gross D," Nasser replied.

Another quipped: "I knew something was BUGGING me about your coverage of that story but I didn't have time to INSECT it further. You handled it like a pro, especially since you were LARVE on TV."

A third added: "Farah, I don’t want to like this but what a pro you are."

"Great composure though @FarahNasser love watching @globalnews here in New Zealand - Keep up the great work and hope the producer gets the team a fly swat for use before you go to air!!" a fourth person wrote.

Well, unlike Nasser, politician Doug Ford was utterly shocked when a bee decided to swarm right into his gob at a news conference.

“Holy Christ, I just swallowed a bee!” Ford, 57, was heard saying.

Immediately realising that the clip would go viral, he added: "This is going to be played over and over again."

He later laughed: "Man, he went right down the hatch."

Commenting on the viral moment, one person said: " know I'm late to the punch, but I just said 'the bees are going extinct because doug ford can't stop eating them' and my grandma thought it was SO funny."

Another added: "I was stung on my arm by a bee on Sunday and I'm still itchy, uncomfortable, and swollen, and I basically do not understand how Doug Ford got away with swallowing one."
