Police Offering $1,000 Reward For Info On Flying Tesla Stunt

The incident, which happened on Saturday, involved a black S-BLM Tesla that had been rented by the driver to perform the stunt.

Police in Los Angeles have launched an appeal for information after a speeding Tesla ended up flying 50 feet into the air before smashing into a parked car.

The incident, which happened on Saturday, involved a black S-BLM Tesla that had been rented by the driver to perform the stunt.

But it went badly wrong, with a clip of it going viral on social media over the weekend.

In the clip, the car can be seen speeding through a residential street, before flying into the air and smashing back down and hitting several bins and a parked car.

The driver remains missing, and Los Angeles Police Department are now offering $1,000 (£760) reward for information that leads to his arrest.

In a statement, police said: "On March 20, 2022, at 12:10 a.m., the rental driver of a black 2018 Tesla S-BLM decided to perform a dangerous stunt, at Baxter Street and Alvarado Street, where he collided with several trash cans and two parked vehicles. The stunt was recorded by several spectators who posted it on several social media accounts.

“There is currently no description of driver, and the Tesla was abandoned at scene. A misdemeanour hit-and-run was completed, and detectives will be following up with the renter.”

The statement went on to urge members of the public who get caught up in such a traffic incident to report it to the police.

It went on: “We would like to remind everybody when involved in a traffic crash to stop and check on the other parties, make sure they are alright, call 911 if they need medical attention, and to exchange information. Don’t convert a traffic crash into a crime.”

The incident occurred at a Tesla meet up.

According to Fox, the Tesla was left completely destroyed in the incident, while the Subaru it smashed into was left with back end damage to its bumper.
