14-year-old Olympian set to receive bizarre gift from parents after winning gold medal

14-year-old Olympian set to receive bizarre gift from parents after winning gold medal

Arisa Trew seems to have given this Olympics gift a whole lot of thought as well

After winning a gold medal in skateboarding a 14-year-old Australian Olympian has negotiated one of the most bizarre gift requests, but you gotta give a champion what they want.

Arisa Trew has made a massive name for herself becoming her country's youngest ever Olympic gold medalist.

Arisa, who is aged 14 years and 86 days, beat the previous Australian record holder Sandra Morgan who was 14 years and 184 days old. Morgan’s record has stood for a whopping 68 years as she took the gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay back in 1956.

So celebrations for Trew are more than called for. If you were 14 and just won a gold medal what would you ask from your parents? What does your heart desire?

Well it seems Trew knew exactly what she wanted, even if it is a little strange.

She wanted a new pet, But chances are, you don’t have this pet yourself, in fact you probably don’t know anyone with this animal in their home.

“My parents promised if I won the gold medal I would get a pet duck,” she told the Today show back in Australia.

Yup, not a dog, a new cat or even a snake but a lovely lil duck.

She explained: “Because they are really cute, then I can take it on walks and take it to the skate park.”

“My parents definitely wouldn’t let me get a dog or a cat because we are travelling so much right now.

“But I feel like a duck might be a little bit easier, and… I don’t know, I just want a duck.”

Well fair enough. The girl is a gold medalist, give her what she wants.

When she found out she was the youngest, Trew called the whole thing 'insane and really cool.'

Speaking of her overall Olympic achievements, she said: “It was just crazy and so exciting and I just, like, couldn’t believe it when I, like, knew that I was the winner of the Olympics.

“This being my first Olympics, it’s just insane."

She added: “And just to have fun with all my friends and skate my best but, like, all I really wanted to do was land a solid run.”
