A golfer has gone viral after a shot being taken with an audience went horribly wrong.
You can take a look at the painfully awkward - and for one member of the crowd, just painful - moment below:
Golf is known, among many things, for its adherence to tradition and ceremonies.

For those who are not a member of a golf club, one ceremony that many clubs stand on concerns the inauguration of a new club captain.
Now it's worth noting that being the club captain doesn't mean that you're necessarily leading a team in a competitive sense.
It's more a person who can represent the club's members to its executives and is in charge of social and golfing matters.
As one tweet of the video in question drily pointed out: "Just because you are the New Captain of the Club doesn’t mean you are the best player, especially under pressure."

The video - which shows the inaugural tee-off of the new captain of Chislehurst Golf Club in Kent, UK - demonstrates this maxim rather succinctly.
When a new club captain is appointed, some golf clubs have a ceremony when the new captain tees off to mark their taking on the role.
In the hilarious clip, the new captain gets set up on the tee surrounded by a crowd of excited onlookers.

I don't know about you, but on the rare occasions I have seen golf being played on television, I've always felt nervous about the huge crowds lining the fairway.
It really is testament to the skill of the players that they can routinely avoid conking the audience on the head when teeing off.
You can probably see where this is going.
Coming back to our new captain - he confidently approaches the ball wearing a pair of shorts.

As the new captain takes a couple of practise swings the crowd gives off a couple of 'whey!' in time with his swing.
He confidently says 'right, here we go' and lines up the shot.
Finally, he takes the swing, only for the ball to shoot off at a sharp angle to his left, careening straight into the crowd. Ouch.

Adding to the theatricality of the moment, the new captain held his pose after finishing the stroke.
People piled into the comments to share their amusement at the golfing mishap.
One wrote: "Holding the pose after directly hitting someone really is incredible stuff."
Another posted: "Hold the pose, nobody will notice."
A third pointed out there must have been a lot of pressure, saying: "The pressure of 1 person watching me is enough let alone a few hundred. The embarrassment is AWFUL!!"
