One rather concerned US citizen rang the police after they spotted strands of hair hanging out of a car trunk, but all wasn't as it seemed.
Naturally, if you see locks coming out of a closed door you might expect them to be attached to a person’s head on the other side.
And a woman took a 45-minute drive home in Ohio – with a stop at Dairy Queen, of course – with hair hanging out from her car. So she definitely turned a few heads with the sight.
A citizen rang a non-emergency line, prompting police to arrive at the door of the car’s owner. Who also happens to be a wig owner.

In a viral TikTok video, Toria Townsend’s Ring camera showed the moment they turned up at her doorstep to find out what exactly was in her trunk.
The cops told her of the ‘craziest thing’ as they asked if she was a hairstylist. “So there’s like, hair hanging out from your car.”
And to their amusement, the shocked woman exclaimed: “Oh my Jesus! Oh that’s my wig!”
The two police laughed at the situation as they said: “You gotta see it.”

In equal disbelief, Townsend kept saying ‘that’s my wig’ as she went to retrieve it from the boot.
The 30-year-old told Insider she had been on her way to a hair appointment to get knotless braids during an ‘extremely hectic’ day.
“I was late to my hair appointment, I just threw my wig off and threw it in my trunk, not even paying attention or realizing where my wig landed.”

Thinking back to her drive home, she said: “I was wondering why people were mugging me at the light," Townsend said. "And I'm thinking to myself, like, 'Somebody must've woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Why is everyone staring at me?'"
Townsend was ‘extremely nervous’ when police officers and a barking dog were at her door just 10 minutes after arriving home, but she described them as ‘really nice’.
Although the call from a concerned driver ended up being over something totally harmless, the 30-year-old has ‘no hard feelings’.

“I’m glad she called because it shows the community is concerned.”
After the wig mishap, the woman is now more cautious about storing the wigs, admitting she’s prone to just throwing them onto a car seat.
Plus, Townsend added that she’s pleased to see the video go viral as she explained: "You really don't see a lot of officers and a person of color interact so well. Now someone who's a person of color and an officer getting along and [having] happy laughter all because of wig — that's a good thing."
