A student was forced to attend the ER after she caught her nipple piercing on the shower door of her student accommodation.
Tilly Yeats, 19, was getting ready in her ‘small’ bathroom before going out for dinner with her friends.
However, the UK-based student’s evening quickly descended into disaster when she tore out her nipple piercing.
While gearing up for the night, Yeats accidentally caught her jewellery on her shower door and that the sheer force left ‘half of [her] nipple flapping off’.

Recounting the gruesome injury, Yeats claimed she initially didn’t know what to do as her nipple was just ‘hanging on by a thread of skin’.
“I messaged a group chat asking for someone to come to my bathroom and a couple girls from a different flat came to mine,” she explained.
“There was so much blood. I’m quite good with blood, but I thought I was going to pass out.”
After her friend had plastered the nipple back on, Yeats called 111 and was advised to attend her local ER for further inspection.

Speaking to What's The Jam, the university student said she was in and out within an hour - believing she’d become a top-priority patient as she was still bleeding so much.
“The first nurse I saw had never seen this before and the other nurse had seen it once, and the girl needed surgery, so I was terrified,” she recounted.
“When I was taking the plaster off, I was so worried my nipple was going to come off with it.”

Luckily, the nurse was able to stitch the nipple back together and Yeats didn’t have to undergo an operation.
Following the unlucky incident, Yeats claims she initially had concerns about how her stitched-back-on nipple would look - but she needn’t have worried.
“There is a slight tear still where the pieces of the nipple were put back together and you can see the lines where it ripped.
“I’m feeling absolutely fine now but I am upset I only have one nipple pierced but it’s OK, I have a funny story to go along with it.”

Despite her ordeal, the teenager is still an advocate for piercings.
“I’ve had multiple people who were contemplating getting them pierced [say they] now wouldn’t, but what happened to me is quite rare and was completely a fault on my behalf,” she explained.
“They [the piercings] brought me so much confidence and I wish I could get it redone.

“I encourage anyone who wants to get them done – just safely in a piercing shop.”
After watching the student's viral video of the incident on social media, one user wrote: “My jaw just unlocked and fell off.”
“Oh my gawd no, I was going to get mine done this week but now I’m SCARED DUDE,” typed another.
A third said: “This is my biggest fear.”
