Ukraine has asked for countries to ban use of the letter 'Z' to show their support amid Vladimir Putin's ongoing invasion.
In a statement made on Today, 29 March, Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba asked countries to 'criminalise' use of the symbol to show support for Ukraine.
Russian military vehicles with 'Z' written on them have crossed into Ukraine since the war began on February 24.

The letter 'Z' is not a part of the Cyrillic alphabet used in Russia and since the invasion it has become a symbol used to support Putin.
Taking to Twitter, the foreign minister wrote "I call on all states to criminalize the use of the ‘Z’ symbol as a way to publicly support Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine."
"’Z’ means Russian war crimes, bombed out cities, thousands of murdered Ukrainians. Public support of this barbarism must be forbidden", he continued.
