Yet another debate about tipping culture has been sparked after a woman claimed an airport worker who checked her luggage asked for a tip.

Tipping is a huge part of culture here in the US, there's no denying it. But sometimes, there are boundaries as to when a worker can ask for a tip from a customer.

And this applies to airport workers... apparently.

A TikToker shared her stance on the tipping culture last year, which she believed had 'gotten out of hand'.

Addysen Drake (@addydrake98) explained in her TikTok video how she worked in the service industry and understands how important tips are for many people.

Despite that, Addysen thought it has gotten out of hand after a tip request she had one time at the airport.

She said: "Tell me why when I get to the airport, after paying $400 for a flight, and I’m going to pay for my $35 checked bag, the guy says to me: 'OK, you have to pay in credit card, but you can tip in cash'."

The TikToker then showed the face she pulled at the airport worker, which left her a bit shocked after already forking out a lot of money.

She said that once she whipped out her credit card, the man gave her an iPad screen and asked her: "What would you like to leave for tip?"

This left Addysen stunned, which was evident as she sarcastically asked the question 'what?' multiple times in the TikTok.

She added: " And keep in mind, he was a total f**king douchebag to me.

"He was so rude to me. What am I tipping that man for? What do we pay all this money for?"

Many swiftly took to the comment section of the video, leaving people divided.

One person said: "My mom has always tipped the outside baggage check people.

But a second person disagreed: "Unless it’s a sit down restaurant where someone actually served me throughout my meal, or I’m getting food delivered, I am not tipping for anything else anymore.

"Gotta put our foot down."

An airline employee also got involved in the discussion, saying: "Airline employee here! If this was an agent at the TKT counter, big no no. Curbside are contracted (diff IDbadge) are allowed but shouldn't be asking."

Addysen replied to the comment saying: "I didn’t know that before I made the video and it blew up lol but I’ve read them all so I get it now."
