Heartbreaking 911 call reveals girl, 7, pleading with her dad as he threatened to shoot her during police stand-off

Heartbreaking 911 call reveals girl, 7, pleading with her dad as he threatened to shoot her during police stand-off

Charles Alexander threatened to send his daughter to 'heaven' in the harrowing police audio

Police audio has been released of the moment an Ohio man called cops and threatened to kill his seven-year-old daughter.

On November 11, Charles Alexander was shot and killed by state troopers following a car chase and subsequent stand-off in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Medina Township, Ohio.

After picking up his daughter, whom he did not have custody of, at about 3.00pm, he began driving recklessly and when he failed to stop for cops, a police pursuit followed which ultimately saw him dial 911 and speak to a dispatcher to tell them to 'back off'.

The audio recording has since been released and you can hear the 43-year-old's daughter telling him that he was scaring her.

"I need them to not approach this car, tell them I am going to off us both if they don't back off stay back," he tells the 911 dispatcher before yelling at the cops on the scene to 'stay back' because he will 'shoot us both'.

His daughter can then be heard saying 'please don't', before adding 'please tell them that I'm here'.

Her father then shouts: "I want to talk to her mother!"

The little girl then tells her dad: "Don't aim it at me, it scares me."

Alexander then proceeds to calm her down saying 'I'm sorry', to which she replies: "Don't aim at me, you promise? It scares me."

Alexander is then asked by a different 911 dispatcher if everyone is there and if he is keeping his daughter safe, to which he responds: "For now."

The little girl then heartbreakingly asks her dad: "How do you know you're going to heaven?"

To which Alexander replies telling her 'we're both going', as his daughter asks: "I'm going to heaven?"

She then begins to plead with him saying 'I don't want to go to heaven today', as Alexander begins to sob. "Am I going to heaven today? I don't want to go to heaven today," his daughter continues to plead.

"You promise you're not going to let me go to heaven?"

Following a lengthy stand-off and multiple gun shots heard, a trooper ultimately took a shot at Alexander, killing him.

Speaking to the press later at a conference, a police official said: "A member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol special response team did neutralize the threat, and I will say this that decision is never made easy.

"It's a difficult situation for that trooper but that act alone right then saved this little girl, there's no doubt in my mind."

Medina County Sheriff's office issued a statement explaining that Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene while his daughter was 'safely recovered from the scene and returned to family members without injury'.
