Horrifying audio shows Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, being eaten alive by a bear.
The couple had made a number of documentary films involving them heading out to interact with bears in the wild.
While it is possible to have safe encounters with bears, you always have to exercise a lot of caution.

Timothy and Amie had been warned a number of times that their actions around bears were putting them in danger.
Nonetheless, they continued to go out around bears, and tragically, the warnings of park rangers would eventually be proven all too right.
Timothy was even known as the 'Grizzly Man' due to his frequent filming with Grizzly Bears in Alaska’s Katmai National Park.
Over the course of 13 summers, he camped along the Katmai Coast, spending time out in the wilderness among the bears.

He and Amie would frequently have very close and risky encounters with the enormous predators.
In 2003 this risky behaviour would end in tragedy when the pair encountered a grizzly bear during its feeding period.
This means that the bears are in a heightened state of aggression as they are trying to put on as much weight as possible before they hibernate for the winter.

While they might not think of a human as worth going after during regular time, during their feeding time they can feed on anything that they encounter.
Unfortunately for Timothy and Amie, this included them.
The danger was also compounded due to the lack of defensive measures that the pair employed while out camping.
This might include things like bear spray or trip wires which are designed to frighten off the animals without harming them.

The audio begins with Amie asking nervously if the bear is still out there, before Tim can be heard screaming: “Get out here! I’m getting killed out here!”
The tent zipper goes and Amie can be heard urging her boyfriend to play dead, with the bear appearing to release Tim before grabbing him once again.
Tim screams for Amie to 'hit the bear' and she tells him to 'fight back'. Tim's shouts change into moans, and Amie is heard to let out a horrifying scream before the tape cuts out.

Mercifully, the couple left the lens cap on the camera, meaning that a video of the attack was not captured.
The pair's fate was discovered by a pilot who spotted the 'meanest-looking bear sitting atop a pile of human remains, feeding from a human ribcage'.
Their tent was torn up, with an evening snack untouched and their shoes left neatly outside.
Nearby was a 3ft pile of grass, mud, and human remains, as well as Tim's mauled head connected to a piece of spine.
Rangers also recovered four bin bags of human remains from the bear's stomach.
