A driver has taken to social media in shock over a 'warning letter' they received from DMV.
Various drivers are known to be notorious on the road - and not for the right reasons. BMW drivers were even named the worst drivers of all in 2021.
However, whether this driver was a BMW owner or not, they received a very thorough letter from California State Transportation Agency's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) which the department 'did not hold back'.
User xsporksx took to Reddit thread r/pics yesterday (6 June) to share a letter they received from DMV on 5 April, 2023 last year.

The caption reads: "This warning letter I got from the DMV last year. Particularly that second paragraph. Ouch."
The letter warns drivers 'with crashes and traffic convictions on their records are at a greater risk of causing future crashes'.
It then points out the driver's 'recent record of bad driving' with two convictions listed as examples below, stating the incidents place the driver at 'increased risk of causing crashes, injury and death'.
It continues: "We do not want you to suffer those consequences and want to help you avoid them."

And it only gets more juicy from there.
The letter notes it 'understand[s]' the driver 'may believe [they] are a good driver,' before continuing: "And yet your driving record is much worse than the average California driver."
It states the driver's record is proof they suffer from 'at least momentary lapses in driving judgement' warning at highway speeds, this can cause 'tragedy'.

Really ramming in the message it continues: "Good, caring people who make careless decisions while driving can cause injury or death."
It subsequently offers the driver a 'choice' in its effort to 'urge' them to be a 'safer' driver.
The choice? "You can choose to prevent further action from DMV by avoiding additional traffic convictions and by not causing any crashes," it continues.

"However, if you choose to continue your unsafe driving, the penalties will increase and eventually lead to probation, suspension or revocation of your driving privilege."
It resolves: "We believe you are capable of making a change to become a safer driver, but it up to you do do so. If you do not want to change, your driving will continue to present a risk to yourself and other road users.
"If you want to change and become a safer, more responsible driver, you can. We hope that you will decide to change, but the choice is yours."
And it's not taken long for people to flood to the comments to weigh in.

"Definitely has frustrated parent energy. I know we taught you better than this, OP," u/snowplacelikehome added.
U/ TrangerineThing4 commented: "Damn they did not hold back lol."
U/nocolon wrote: "From the language in the letter I was fully expecting a list like crashed, crashed, kickflipped a car on the PCH, drove into a lake while Ubering some orphans, caused a car to explode from poor maintenance, achieved terminal velocity in a work zone, etc.
"Instead it’s two minor speeding tickets in two years. If this is considerably worse than most Californians I should move to California."
However, u/10113r114m4 said: "DMVs need to do this more lol."
So, what do you think?
