The staggering amount Donald Trump's deportation flights have reportedly cost the US taxpayer so far has been revealed amid the president's crackdown on immigration.
Tackling illegal immigration was a key part of Trump's presidential campaign, and he certainly wasted no time in addressing it upon his return to the White House for a second term in January.
Within weeks, he signed a slew of executive orders to 'reclaim control' of the the borders and re-established a piece of wartime legislation to deport migrants who have been accused of crimes while bypassing legal proceedings like court challenges.

The Trump administration provided an update on the recent effort to tackle immigration, with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt speaking to the media on Monday (April 28).

She told press: "The Trump administration is working 24/7 to successfully arrest and deport these illegal criminals and foreign terrorists from our communities. We are in the beginning stages of carrying out the largest deportation campaign in American history."
It's reported that at least 350 deportation flights have taken place since Trump returned to office, which has come at a massive cost to the US taxpayer.

ICE Air Operations states these flights cost around $8,577 on average per hour for a regular charter flight, while a 'special high-risk charter flight' can cost as much as $27,000.
The Mirror reports the flights could be costing as much as $94,500,000 in taxpayers' money, though the American Immigration Council has estimated it's costing around $88 billion every single year.
The council states: "This is a much higher sum than the one-time estimate, given the long-term costs of establishing and maintaining detention facilities and temporary camps to eventually be able to detain one million people at a time—costs that could not be modeled in a short-term analysis.

"This would require the United States to build and maintain 24 times more ICE detention capacity than currently exists. The government would also be required to establish and maintain over 1,000 new immigration courtrooms to process people at such a rate."
It's ICE who operate these charter flights, with Katrina S. Kane, Deputy Assistant Director for the division, saying: "ICE Air Operations is capable of facilitating the removal of alien nationals from any location in the continental United States to anywhere in the world via commercial airline or charter aircraft, ensuring their safe and humane return to their countries of origin."
UNILAD has contacted the White House for comment.
