Gypsy Rose Blanchard 'to take up public speaking' once freed from prison

Gypsy Rose Blanchard 'to take up public speaking' once freed from prison

Gypsy Rose is expected to be released next month

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has shared her plans for life after prison.

Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016 after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

The then-23-year-old had planned her mother's murder along with her then boyfriend in 2015 following years of physical and psychological abuse.

Her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, was the one to actually carry out the murder and was ultimately handed a life-sentence for his involvement.

But Blanchard is being released early and is expected to leave prison next month.

With her pending release in mind, the 32-year-old has shared her post-prison plans of becoming a public speaker.

According to TMZ, Blanchard is 'planning on doing a lot of public speaking and engaging in advocacy work on behalf of child abuse victims'.

Specifically she wanted to raise awareness about Munchausen's syndrome by proxy - the medical term used to describe her late mother's actions.

According to WebMD, the illness causes the person to seek 'medical help for exaggerated or made-up symptoms of a child in their care.'

Gypsy Rose is set to be released from prison next month.

Blanchard has echoed similar sentiments previously.

"Spreading awareness by educating others on how to combat child abuse has become my personal passion," she told Springfield News-Leader in 2021.

"And by sharing my own life story, as a survivor of abuse, I am able to give those who are too afraid to speak a strong voice."

Blanched also voiced her hopes of 'reconnecting with my family and gaining that quality time I was unable to have with them growing up'.

As well as public speaking, Blanchard has a new docuseries coming out.

In a trailer for the series, titled The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, she pledged that she would 'speak my truth'.

"After a lifetime of silence, I finally get to use my voice to share my story and speak my truth," Blanchard said.

Blanchard was sentenced to ten years for her role in her mother's death.

She went on: "As a survivor of relentless child abuse, this docuseries chronicles my quest for liberation and journey through self-discovery.

“I am unapologetically myself and unafraid to expose the hidden parts of my life that have never been revealed until now.”

The docuseries is set for release next year.

It comes after the release of The Act - a drama series based on Blanchard's life, where actor Joey King played the convicted murderer and Patricia Arquette starred as her mom Dee Dee.

The Hulu series boasts an impressive 91 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
