The son of a veteran involved in lawsuit with Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom has slammed the singer for having 'no empathy'.
In 2020, Carl Westcott sold his Santa Barbara property to Katy Perry for $15 million. However, days later, the veteran argued he hadn't been of 'sound mind' and tried to reverse the decision.
A lawsuit over the property ensued and while a judge ruled in favor of Perry in booting Westcott out, the 'Firework' singer is set to appear in court later this month after suing 85-year-old Westcott for $6 million in damages.
In 2020, Westcott signed a deal selling his property to Perry but later argued he didn't want to sell his home anymore, and his diagnosis of Huntington's disease meant he was of 'unsound mind' when the agreement was made.

"Huntington's disease causes nerve cells in the brain to decay over time. The disease affects a person's movements, thinking ability and mental health," Mayo Clinic explains.
However, in 2023, a judge ruled in favor of Perry and keys were reportedly exchanged in May 2024, with Perry having since launched a lawsuit seeking damages from Westcott for lost rental value and deferred maintenance - amounting to a whopping $6 million - as per court documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal, quoted by Clarion Ledger.

Westcott's son, Chart, told the US Sun the whole family was in 'shock' when Perry decided to sue for damages.

"If an old man apologizes and says he made a mistake [about the house sale], and she's a rich pop star who can buy any other house in the world, you'd think she would let the old man go on his way," he said.
With Westcott having been 'bedridden for well over 18 months' in 'horrible condition' and the family finding his 'decline' 'very painful' to see, Chart has accused Perry of having 'no empathy' and of acting like an 'entitled celebrity'.
Chart argued there's 'no real explanation other than greed,' that Perry would sue his father for damages.

"This is such a small deal to be worried about - I think its a matter of privilege - her lawyers and her business manager are dealing with it," he said.
He accused Perry and Bloom of having 'sold their souls' and voiced it as 'unforgivable how they have conducted their affairs'.
Chart explained the family has been 'interested in a reasonable outcome for all involved' but the 'Hollywood elite system' has left them treated 'like dirt'.
UNILAD has contacted representatives for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom for comment.
