Luigi Mangione speaks out from prison with message to supporters after seeing turnout at recent court hearing

Luigi Mangione is accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

Luigi Mangione has issued a message from prison in regards to the photographs he's being sent by fans.

Mangione is accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024, and has since generated quite the fanbase.

Hundreds of his supporters attended his first court hearing since his arraignment on Friday (February 21), with the majority being young women, People reports.

They were seen lining up outside the New York City court early in the morning to gain access, many sporting placards.

With all this in mind, his legal team has had to set up a website for the 26-year-old, where an FAQ page has been created.

Mangione — who has pleaded not guilty to the charges he's facing – is also able to issue statements via the site, and one thanked people for their ongoing support.

It read: "I am overwhelmed by - and grateful for - everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support.

"Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC from across the country, and around the globe.

"While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future."

Elsewhere on the FAQ page, it addressed people's questions about sending Mangione photographs.

"Luigi is allowed to receive photos via Shutterfly and FreePrints in accordance with mail procedures while in custody, following the Federal Bureau of Prisons Program Statement No. 5800.16 (Mail Management Manual) and Program Statement No. 5265.11 (Correspondence)," the answer stated.

"Due to the volume of photos, they could take longer than usual to be screened and shared. Luigi appreciates the photos that are sent and kindly asks that people send no more than five photos at a time.

"Please note that every photo that is received is screened and reviewed by law enforcement."

During Friday's hearing, Mangione's legal team expressed concerns about evidence that was obtained by police in Altoona, Pennsylvania (where the 26-year-old was arrested).

"We are concerned that Luigi's constitutional rights were violated in Pennsylvania," his attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo said outside the court, as per 6 ABC.

She further claimed that there were 'serious search and seizure issues'.

"It is alleged that Luigi had a gun on him and had other property on him that they are going to use against him in all of the cases," Agnifilo said.

"If there is a search and seizure issue — and again, we have to review all of the paperwork and camera footage when we receive it, before we say definitively whether we think there is one — but so far, what we are seeing is, we think there is a serious search and seizure issue."

A judge is yet to set a trial date.
