A Miami plastic surgeon has denied accusations he injected blood contaminated with plastic into a liposuction patient.
Dr. Karl William Schwarz operated on a 34-year-old liposuction patient at 305 Plastic Surgery back in January 2021.
The patient underwent a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and liposuction with a different surgeon in 2019 and visited Dr. Schwarz two years later for a top up of the same treatment.

The doctor's attorney Gregory Chaire wrote in a letter that the patient was there for 360 liposuction (abdomen, waist, mid back, lower back, 'love handles') and BBL.
A BBL is a procedure that changes the look of the buttocks in addition to removing fat from other parts of the body via liposuction.
Dr. Schwarz claims he began operating on patient, only to discover that the cannula was blocked after her blood was contaminated with plastic.

"During the preoperative evaluation, Dr. Schwarz asked the Patient if she had received the injection of foreign materials into her body, which the Patient denied," Chaires letter said.
“The administrative complaint is framed upon the opinion by Dr. Pazmino, which incorrectly represents events that did not occur, namely the alleged injection/transfusion of red blood cells into the patient that were mixed with lipoaspirate contaminated with foreign bodies.
“The patient only received aspirate from the front of her body, which was obtained prior to and apart from the back of her body where the foreign bodies were identified.”
Despite denying the claims, Dr. Schwarz has agreed to pay a $7,500 fine and up to $6,196 in case costs.

His legal representative says the medical professional wants to carry on with his life.
Dr. Schwarz will also reportedly take a five-hour continuing medical education course in risk management and a three-hour course in medical recordkeeping.
Of the general dangers of BBL and how to perform it safely, BAAPS president Marc Pacifico told the BBC: "Unfortunately we don't know how many people have been going for these risky BBL procedures.

"We have been recommending against it for a number of years after seeing quite a frightening death rate associated with it.
"But people have been going abroad to get it done.
"Make sure you ask if the surgeon will be using ultrasound for gluteal fat grafting.
"We are recommending that surgeons should only perform this with real time ultrasound guidance as the only way to ensure the procedure is performed superficially and safely."

The results of a BBL can change over time, the older you get.
