Troy Coleman's family hadn't seen or heard from him since May

The Twitch streamer who unknowingly filmed a missing teen in his live stream had no idea about the situation until he received an important email.

Twitch streams are home to a whole host of wild things, but not often does a missing person show up in one.

But that's exactly what the family of Troy Coleman think has happened.

The 17-year-old went missing on May 21 in Mt Morris Township, Michigan, and hadn't been seen or heard from since.

That was until he popped up in the livestream of Twitch star FaZe Lacy.

The content creator was broadcasting from an outside dining area at a restaurant in Miami, when a shirtless young man in bright green shorts walks up the street.

He stops and chats to Lacy and his friend Clix before moving on and talking to people at another table.

Eventually, this conversation also comes to an end and the teen heads on his way.

Lacy thought nothing of the interaction until he received an email from a man claiming to be the brother of the man who'd featured in the stream.

In the email, he explained that his name was Trent and his brother had gone missing several weeks ago.

The email read: "Hello, my name is Trent Coleman and my missing little brother from Michigan was on Clix and Lacy's stream in Miami.

"He was wearing green shorts and they were making fun of him, he is not on drugs he is schizophrenic and he is 17 years old.

FaZe has since shared an email he was sent from Troy's brother after the teen appeared in a recent livestream (X/LacyHimself)

"If someone can contact me about this I would be so thankful, he has been missing for three months and his case was put on homicide in Michigan."

Lacy later shared a screenshot of the email, as well as a still image of Troy from the livestream, on X.

He wrote: "Yesterday on stream he came up to me and Clix and now his family knows he is alive and in Miami. I wasn’t sure if I should make this public but I'm hoping somehow this helps him be found for his family."

And it seems like this story will have a happy ending, with police from Troy's hometown confirming that he's been found and is set to reunite with his family.

In a statement, they said: "The Flint Township Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who shared the missing person information about Troy Coleman.

"He has been found safe in Miami, Florida and we are working with local authorities to arrange his safe return to be with his family."
