A woman has been charged after she crashed her car into a police station and blamed her GPS.
I failed my driving test because the sat nav told me it was a 30mph zone, despite the road signs saying 20 - or at least that's what I tell myself. However, one woman has taken blaming technology to the next level.
A 26-year-old woman has been charged after she crashed into a police department garage in Portland, Maine, and tried to argue she had simply been following her GPS directions.

Unfortunately, the police weren't convinced and it seems there may be another reason behind the dodgy driving.
Portland Maine Police Department took to Facebook to reveal photographs of the vehicle, tilting diagonally down the station's garage stairs.
The post reads: "A 26-year-old female driver drove through the Police Department garage, across our pedestrian plaza and then tried to drive down the stairs to Middle Street.

"She said she was following her GPS instructions."
However, the statement noted how responding officers believe the crash had something to do with the woman's 'excessive blood alcohol level'.
The 26-year-old was resultantly issued 'a summons for OUI (Operating Under the Influence'.

The police department also reflected how it was 'fortunate that she didn't strike anyone' and that the incident 'ended with just a small amount of property damage'.
"Please don't drink and drive," the statement concluded.

While not taking away from the dangerousness of the situation, Facebook users couldn't help but flood to the comments to point out the woman's misfortune of crashing into a police station of all places.
One said: "I’ve been very drunk before but never 'drive through the police department' drunk."
"There's bad luck, and then there's this," another agreed.
A third user theorised that maybe her GPS play a more significant role, and decided to deliberately lead the woman to the station. "Perhaps her GPS knew she was drunk and figured it would bring her where she needed to be, rather than where she wanted to be," they said.

However, others stressed how much more severe the situation could have been.
"Thank GOD no one was on the plaza or this could have been a totally different out come," one said.
Another concluded: "I hope she gets the help she needs and soon. I'm glad no one was hurt."
