One woman is finding herself sleeping with one eye open after her sleep tracking app recorded a mysterious man's voice seemingly talking to her while she slept.
Whispering to yourself or having full blown conversations with your partner while you're asleep can happen to anyone at any time, with a Norwegian study from 2010 suggesting that the experience is so common it affects as many as two in three of us (66 per cent).
And that's only the half of what some people can get up to while deep in slumber.

However, while you likely wouldn't want to hear what gibberish you are spouting, you definitely wouldn't want to know that a unknown voice was also talking back to you - which is, unfortunately, what one sleep talking woman found out.
Taking her plight to Reddit, the woman posted the 10 second clip, which was recorded at 3.26am, which the Sleepcycle app flags as 'talking' as two very different voices can be heard seemingly conversing with one another.
While the male voice is 'incredibly clear', 'he' makes ineligible comments which sound like 'waka waka, baka baka', to which she can be heard replying 'mmm' and 'mmhm'.

The woman said she suspected the stranger is speaking another language, but translator apps haven't been much help in figuring it out.
What makes her ordeal even more concerning is the fact she lives alone in a second-floor apartment in a city.
She explained that she has deadbolt locks on her door and says there is 'no other way' to get into her flat, adding: "The voice is incredibly clear and seems to be talking to me and I’m responding. I don’t recognize the man’s voice and I think I detect a bit of some kind of accent.
"I don’t know if this is paranormal or ghost, to me it sounds like there was someone in my apartment, but I don’t know how that would be possible."

Searching for a rational explanation, the Reddit user suggested perhaps the technology in her apartment got hacked but said her device is in the living room, too far away from her phone to 'record the voice so clearly'.
The recording has understandably 'freaked' her out, as well as hundreds of people on social media, many of whom have jumped to the worst conclusions.
One Reddit user advised her to invest in a camera where she sleeps or around her apartment to 'catch a potential squatter', adding: "I know it's horrifying and also rare, but it happens. I'd rule that out ASAP. Safety first, and mundane before magic."

Another wrote: "It sounds like he was right next to you. This is scary."
Meanwhile, some have been trying to translate the man's words, finding 'waka waka' to be slang in Cameroon for 'do it', while 'baka' means 'idiot' in Japanese.

From this, Reddit users came to the conclusion that the mysterious figure was 'telling her to do something and not doing it would be stupid'.
Others, however, have tried to find the funny side, joking that the 'poltergeist' was singing a rendition of Shakira's 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)', or that Fozzie Bear has occupied her apartment.
Still, the recording has struck a nerve with most, fearing that the voice is actually a real life person over an apparition.
"If it is a real person, it is worse than a ghost', another commented. "The weird thing is that the voice seems very loud. Why wouldn't you wake up?
"Terrifying."
