Excited Minecraft users were quick to flood a long-abandoned server after MrBeast dropped a hint that he might be returning to it.
In July 2020, when the world was reeling from the outbreak of COVID-19 and everyone was still cautious about going outside, MrBeast took advantage of our desire to stay indoors by creating a new Minecraft server for people to explore.
Being a famous YouTuber, it's not that surprising to know that MrBeast's decision to create the server came with the goal of getting some video content, but he still succeeded in attracting thousands of people to 'Simpcraft'.

After getting the footage he needed, MrBeast then abandoned the server and left it in the hands of players, many of who stuck around for a while with the hope that he would one day return.
Over time, interest in the server dropped off and the player count on the server data fell to zero. That is, until another YouTuber, FitMC, decided to take another look at it.
In a video shared this week, FitMC explained how he was intrigued by the abandoned server and decided to explore it.

He found a completely different terrain, 'unrecognisable' to the one that had originally been created, but after some digging, he was able to uncover the original structure below.
The video has been viewed thousands of times since it was posted yesterday (24 March), and has received praise from fans who enjoyed seeing what was left of the server.
"This video somehow captures a post-apocalyptic feel better than many games and movies," one person responded.

However, the video also caught the attention of MrBeast himself.
Three years on from when he first created 'Simpcraft', the YouTuber responded to FitMC's video to hint that he might not be finished with the server just yet.
"Maybe I’ll give it a look again now haha," he wrote.
His comment received thousands of likes, and prompted many hopeful gamers to return to the server to await its creators return.

Since FitMC's video was posted, server data for Simpcraft shows the number of players jumping from zero to just over 100.
It's not quite the 10,000 that MrBeast was able to attract when he first launched the server, but considering he's only hinted at his return so far, it's clear he's got people's attention.
Only time will tell whether the YouTuber really does decide to make a comeback, but until then the server will at least remain a good place for his hopeful fans to gather.
