A teen who went viral for selling his spot in the line for the original iPhone in 2007 for $800 ended up making big bucks from the deal.

While iPhone 16 may be the talk of the town amongst Apple fans and tech gurus nowadays, there was a time when everyone obsessed over the release of the original iPhone.

Steve Jobs released the first ever Apple phone in 2007, with people going to extraordinary and unprecedented lengths in a bid to get their hands on the new tech.

None more so than a woman who turned up to a store in Dallas with $100,000 in her back pocket when iPhone released over 17 years ago.

She was that determined to take the store's entire stock of the new Apple phone that she paid the guy at the front of the queue $800 to take his place.

Well, this guy had been waiting hours for his turn to grab the iPhone and even camped out so he was first in line.

The woman had planned to sell the $100,000 worth of the new iPhones on eBay for a potential profit, as some people were certainly willing to pay above and beyond back then to cop the new phone.

Her plan hit a snag the minute she entered the store however, as the shop was limiting the sale of iPhone to just one per customer.

So, after paying $800 to get to the through of the queue, the woman left with just one iPhone to her name.

And to make matters worse, Marc Rebillet - the man who the woman paid $800 for a place in the line - got into the store in no time and also purchased a new phone.

Marc explained on Steve-O's Wild Ride! Podcast years later how he initially thought the $800 offer was not real.

The whole viral moment was caught on camera and with the TV shots rolling, he thought it was just one big marketing ploy.

"What made her think she was going to keep everyone's place in line?" Steve-O added in the podcast.

Since that, Marc has ended up making more than $100,000 through his music and comedy career, as well as a successful YouTube channel.

In fact, the now 35-year-old entertains his close to 2.5 million subscribes on YouTube with improvised music, typically in his signature bathrobe and briefs.

Quite the life away from standing in line for an iPhone, eh?
