Apple makes big change to new iPhone chargers which solves infamous years-old issue

If you needed a reason to upgrade to an iPhone 15, it's definitely this

Apple's new iPhone chargers are the answer to all of our problems.

And no, I'm not being dramatic. As I'm sat here trying to piece together the frays of my charger with electrical tape and little charger protectors I bought online, I can breathe a little easier knowing when I eventually get round to an upgrade, broken chargers will be a thing of the past.

Apple's iPhone 15 launched on 22 September and it didn't just cause a stir for featuring the 'biggest update to the device in three years' but also in how its accompanying charger would be upgraded too.

News of the iPhone 15 Pro's charger was leaked online by several X - formerly known as Twitter - accounts.

Kosutami and Majin Bu first shared news of the woven braided cables and Macrumors also reported the iPhone 15 Pro models would come with the more durable cables.

It's worth saying Apple did provide wove braided charging cables before, although not with its iPhones but as accessories to its Macs.

It's also worth noting Majin Bu later took to X on 11 September to clarify: "According to my source, Apple will not include the new colored cables in the iPhone 15 boxes. Instead, a one meter white braided cable will be included in the regular and Pro models box."

But did Apple do it?

From the outside, the charger doesn't look too different.

Well, looking at Apple's website for its 240W USB-C Charge Cable (2m) it would seem the tech company has.

The description for the charger states: "This 2-metre charging cable is made with a woven design - with USB-C connectors on both ends - and is ideal for charging, syncing and transferring data between USB-C devices.

"It supports charging of up to 240 watts and transfers data at USB 2 rates. Pair the USB-C Charge Cable with a compatible USB-C power adapter to conveniently charge your devices from a power point and take advantage of fast-charging capabilities. USB-C power adapters sold separately."

The charger is available in both two metres and one metre length - but if you're still getting one metre, what are you doing with your life?
