Rockstar has finally announced the long-awaited release date for Grand Theft Auto VI.
It's the first big update on the game since it was revealed late last year, with Rockstar confirming at the time that the game would be released during an unspecified part of 2025.
Take-Two Interactive, the company which owns Rockstar Games, provided an update on the massively anticipated game via its CEO Strauss Zelnick today (May 16).

He said: "Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.
"We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase."
Also, if any fans are worried about the game being delayed past this point, Zelnick has offered reassurance in an interview with IGN.

He told the outlet: "We do feel highly confident that we'll deliver [Grand Theft Auto VI] in fall of 2025."
It's poignant that he felt the need to clarify that, with delays a frequent issue in the gaming industry currently, and the fact he's put his neck on the line shows there's at least a good chance the game will arrive on time.
In terms of what we know about the game itself, it's set in the fictional state of Leonida - a parody of Florida. That means a return to Vice City, which is GTA's depiction of Miami.
The game features two protagonists, a criminal duo called Jason and Lucia, who is the first female protagonist in the series since it went 3D.

The release of the trailer caused an explosion of content online, from fans picking out the small details Rockstar is famous for, to the real-life Florida Joker causing a massive fuss over his depiction in the game.
When the game is actually released, it will be unplayable for millions of fans as it will only be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, meaning the people who are still using last gen consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will have to make the upgrade or go without.
As for anyone on PC, while the game will be coming to desktop, it's been confirmed that won't be at release.

Fingers crossed for the PC guys they won't be waiting too long, and let's all hope GTA VI does keep on track for its intended Fall 2025 release.
