The full tweet read: "In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.
"We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto.
"We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you."
The latest instalment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise is one of the most hotly anticipated games out there.

Speculation has been rife about when the game itself will be released, and Rockstar has remained tight-lipped.
There have been leaks of content from the development of the game, which has given some indication of how the game might look compared to its predecessors.
Many fans have been drawing comparison with Red Dead Redemption 2, which was hailed as a masterpiece for the attention to detail in the world inhabited by Arthur Morgan and his companions.

The leaks showed off early versions of the game, including its graphics, as well as some suggestions of how gameplay might look.
But now, it seems that Grand Theft Auto fans don't have much longer to wait for their first 'official' look at the sixth instalment in the iconic gaming franchise.
Grand Theft Auto VI will change setting from the previous iteration, which was set in Los Santos, a fictionalised depiction of Los Angeles.
