Tesla is recalling over 11,000 of its Cybertrucks in another blow the car manufacturer.
The first fleet of Cybertrucks were released in November 2023 and less than a year on, Elon Musk's electric vehicle company has recalled the car model for a fourth time.
It was announced on Tuesday (June 25) that the vehicles being recalled are its Cybertruck vehicles manufactured from November 13, 2023, to May 26, 2024.

It's expected to affect over 11,000 Tesla owners.
Explaining the issue, recall documentation says of the apparent defect: "The Cybertruck is equipped with a cosmetic applique along the exterior of the trunk bed trim, known as the sail applique, which is affixed to the vehicle with adhesive.
"On affected vehicles, the sail applique or adhesion may not have been installed according to specification, which may cause the sail applique to become loose or separate from the vehicle."

Regarding the safety issues linked to this default, if the applique separates from the car while it's being driven it 'could create a road hazard for following motorists and increase their risk of injury or a collision'.
There's also said to be issues with Cybertrucks's windshield wiper, Forbes reports.
It was been found that motor controller for the EV's wipers can stop working because it’s getting too much electrical current. This could cause increased risk of a crash if driving in wet weather.

The news hasn't come as a surprise to some.
Sam Abuelsamid, an analyst at Guidehouse Insights, told Reuters: "This is the largest individual wiper ever used on a light duty vehicle with a 4-foot-long (1.22 meter) blade. That exceptional long lever arm puts a lot of stress on the motor and there have been a lot of anecdotal reports popping up since early in production of failures."
He added that overall build quality - in his opinion - is 'quite poor'.

In regards to the Cybertruck's faulty appliques, Tesla say that if customers bring their EVs in that they will fix the issue free of charge so that 'the assembly meets specifications and ensures sufficient adhesion between the applique and the vehicle’s deck rail'.
"Rework of sail applique will take less than 25 minutes and, if necessary, replacement will take approximately 30 minutes," Tesla's website adds.
