Katy Perry has described the moment she had a 'shock' through her body after hearing the name of the capsule that launched her into space.
The 40-year-old pop star announced she would be joining Blue Origin's New Shepard's 31st force on a 'historic' mission to space, which launched earlier today (Monday, April 14) from Launch Site One in West Texas at 10am EDT.
The flight was the first-all women crew to launch into space since Valentina Tereshkova was sent into a solo orbit by the Soviet Union in 1963.
The all-women crew was made up of Perry, alongside former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, documentary producer Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyễn, journalist and CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King, and author and journalist Lauren Sánchez - who's also engaged to Blue Origin founder and Amazon boss, Jeff Bezos.

Yet, before the momentous launch, Perry revealed she was touched by an unlikely coincidence to do with the space capsule's name.
The 'Hot n Cold' hitmaker took to Instagram to share her surprise with fans as she said she learnt the capsule shares some similarities with the singer.

She said: "I think if you know me, you know that I am always looking for little confirmations from the heavens, from my guides, from my angels, from my higher self.
"You know, when I ask for it and I'm open to it, it's pretty loud.
"So when I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up the capsule and the capsule, on the very front of it is the outline in the shape of a feather."

Perry said she took the sign as 'total confirmation' - because her mom has given her the nickname 'Feather.'
The second eerie sign came when the Californian singer was on a training mission and was shown the actual capsule that they were going to travel in.
"And they reveal the capsule name," Perry continued. "And the capsule's name is Tortoise."
"A wave - just the most energetic wave just shot through my body."

She explained her mom actually has two nicknames for her, Feather and Tortoise.
"What are the chances I'm going to space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol, this feather, called Tortoise?"
The star even screenshotted recent text messages from her mom that refers to her with the two names.
"There are no coincidences," she continued. "And I'm just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship."
Sánchez, who organized the historic mission, previously told Elle that she picked the five women to accompany her to space because of they are all 'storytellers in their own right.'

She said: "They’re going to go up to space and be able to spread what they felt in different ways."
The singer also said she had 'dreamt of going to space for 15 years'.
She also told the news outlet that she wanted to make space 'glam' and 'inspire' a 'whole new generation' - including her daughter Daisy - to 'never have limits on [their] dreams and show [them] that any type of person can reach their dreams no matter your background, your ethnicity, your economic situation, or your education level'.
