Aaron Carter, best known for his 2000 hit 'I Want Candy', has revealed he’s attending a rehab program in the hopes of regaining custody of his nine-month-old son, Prince.
Carter, who shares Prince with his on-again, off-again fiancée Melanie Martin, said he is voluntarily attending the outpatient program and that his rehab stint is not court-mandated.
“I do group therapy, parenting classes, domestic violence classes, I got myself certified in CPR, just a lot of different things,” the hit-maker explained.

Carter and Martin’s son is currently in the latter’s mum’s custody because of drug and domestic violence concerns.
The 34-year-old singer told The US Sun: “It’s an abstinence program and I work with an individual counsellor.”
He added: “The main reason why I enrolled into Lionrock Recovery outpatient is to help with the weed. I don’t want to smoke weed anymore. I don’t really need to.”

The dad-of-one, who owns a medicinal marijuana licence, also told the paper that he’s ‘thrown away’ all the marijuana plants he’d been growing in his home.
Admitting to taking Xanax, Carter explained the downer is part of his ‘regimented medication’ and stops him from ‘huffing dust’.
Carter also clarified why he occasionally appears as though he might be under the influence in social media clips, putting his drowsiness down to the medication he takes for insomnia.
Carter shared: “There [have] been many times where, because I have insomnia, I’ll take my medication for sleep and then I’ll go on a livestream, and I’ll get really sleepy.

“I should be going to sleep but sometimes I’ll stay up a little later than I should.”
He added: “Right now, both of our priorities are putting our issues to the side and trying to build a new and better foundation for our child.”
UNILAD has approached Carter for further comment.
He and Martin have had a notoriously tumultuous relationship, much of which has played out in the public eye.

In March, Martin accused Carter of fracturing her ribs during an argument, however days later retracted the claim, saying the allegation was ‘made up’ and down to her suffering from postpartum depression.
She wrote at the time: “Just wanted to make a statement, I’ve had a bad time with postpartum depression. Aaron never hit me, I was angry because I made a mistake, a bad one.”
She added: “I’m not sure if he will forgive me, but I want him to know I’m sorry.”
