Demi Moore says one role in the early years of her career 'terrified' her before it catapulted her acting career.
The US actor has well and truly earned her stripes in the industry, with awards spanning from Golden Globes to Screen Actors Guild.
And last year was a great year for Demi as she landed her first-ever Golden Globe and narrowly missed the Oscar for 'Best Actress' for The Substance, where she played fading Hollywood starlet, Elisabeth Sparkle.

Back in 1995, Moore became the world's highest paid actress and now, fast forward another 30 years, she has gone on to feature in Time's 100 most influential people in the world list.
And you'd think all the blood and guts in The Substance would be terrifying to tackle, however, Moore has revealed that she was more 'terrified' of the role she received as a teenager.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the 62-year-old reflected on her part where she played the role of a journalist named Jackie Templeton on the soap opera, General Hospital, between 1982 to 1984.

"I think the first big moment that kind of gave me a little bit of encouragement of, wow, this could be possible, is when I got General Hospital because it was a real job on a show that was successful for a soap opera,” she explained. “In fact, it was at a heightened state because Elizabeth Taylor had just been a guest on a soap opera.”
The star continued: "And literally it was a month before my 19th birthday. And so it was like a real job where I was going to be paid and have an actual salary.
"Meaning that I didn't have to have another job. I could actually live by doing this thing that I loved and hoped I could do. So that was like the first moment to really kick it off.”

Looking at snaps from a publicity shoot she did at the time, the Oscar nominee said how she looked 'super dolled up', adding: "You know, I just was so excited for all of it. But if I'm looking at this photo, I think I was probably a little terrified also.”
Still, her General Hospital appearance put her in the spotlight as she went on to appear in the 1984 movie, Blame It on Rio, which helped her gain even more positive reviews.
A year later, she then filmed in St. Elmo's Fire, followed by the 1986 movie, About Last Night... and, of course, Ghost, in 1990 which went on to be the highest-grossing movie of the year.
