Arguably two of the biggest pop stars in the world right now have had quite a tumultuous history before meeting for the very first time in a far from comfortable fashion.
Dua Lipa, 27, and Cher, 76, gave fans the awkward crossover they thought they'd never see following Cher's public hit-back against comments that Dua shared the same iconic status as her.
Footage from the awkward ordeal was posted online and has since sent the internet into a complete spiral.

Check out the awkward interaction here:
Tensions first began to rise back in August of last year when the 'One Kiss' singer was likened to Cher for her pop-legend status - with one fan dubbing her the 'Cher of our generation' in a now-deleted tweet.
When a second fan decided to tag both Dua and Cher writing: "So much truth in one tweet," it was evident that the pop queen who ruled the 70s was not on board with the likening one bit.

Clearly not entirely happy with the comparison, the 'Believe' singer was very quick to respond and share her views on the sweeping statement.
She hit back with: "How many yrs are in a generation?"

To answer Cher's question, the general consensus is that there are around 20 to 30 years in a generation and many fans were eager to share their support for Cher and how she is 'the only Cher of all generations'.
Flash-forward some months and the two finally met for the first time ever at the Versace Fall/Winter 2023 Show.
Due to the apparent tensions already brewing between the stars - many were curious to see exactly how the meeting would pan out and they were not disappointed.

Cher can be seen walking up towards a seated Dua who immediately stands up as she says: "Hi, it's so nice to meet you, how are you?"
The pair both smile as they make some small talk and then resume their seats right next to each other.
Clearly both uncomfortable, the duo begin fidgeting and playing with their hair.
Fans were quick to theorise whether the awkward meeting had anything to do with the ordeal that took place in August, with one Twitter user writing: "Dua was about to hug her but then she remembered the tweet."

"Dua wanted to hug her," commented another with a whole succession of laughing emojis.
A third added: "This was so uncomfortable to watch."
Reading into the body language some more, another posted: "Lol the way she went for a hug and Cher stuck out her hand to stop that from happening."
"Awkward smile after that handshake. Uffff," wrote a fifth - clearly in hysterics at Dua's uncomfortable glance into the camera that captured the entire encounter.
