Grimes has revealed that she and Elon Musk have broken up again after welcoming their second child via a surrogate.
News of the new arrival was revealed today, March 10, after the pair previously announced the birth of their son, X Æ A-12, in May 2020.
The little girl, named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, or 'Y', as the parents have nicknamed her, gave herself away by coughing while Grimes was in the midst of an interview.

As a result, the resulting Vanity Fair article offered up a double revelation: not only had Musk and Grimes had a second baby, but they were also seemingly back together after Musk previously described them as being 'semi-separated'.
In the interview, Grimes explained: 'There’s no real word for [our relationship]. I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time…. We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.'
It's unclear how much time passed between the interview for the Vanity Fair article and its release, but after the news was shared with the world, Grimes took to Twitter to clarify a few points.

In a thread, in which she shared her cover photo, she wrote: '2 clarify a few things; I did this to speak abt my work, not “reveal all” haha. Def held back a lot, contrary 2 headline. & didn’t mean for them 2 find out about my daughter so please respect her privacy as I’d love her to be able to live as private of a life as possible.'
Grimes also added that she and Musk are no longer together - or at least, as together as they were previously - as she wrote: 'Me and E have broken up *again* since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now, I think Devin wrote that part of the story rly well. Sique - peace out.'
When discussing their first break up last Autumn, Musk told Time Magazine they 'weren't seeing each other that month', adding: 'I think this is to some degree a long-term thing, because what she needs to do is mostly in LA or touring, and my work is mostly in remote locations like [SpaceX Headquarters in Texas].'
