Filmmaker James Gunn has been named as the new co-CEO of DC Studios alongside producer Peter Safran.
Gunn and Safran, both 56, will lead the new division of Warner Bros, DC Studios, which is taking over from DC Films to replace its film, TV, and animation releases.
As first revealed by the The Hollywood Reporter, the creative side of operations will be handled by Gunn while the business and production aspect of the business will be dealt with by Safran.

Gunn has since confirmed his new job on Twitter, sharing the announcement in an article and writing: "Accurate. So pleased to be here. #DC"
News of the new co-CEOs comes after a long search to replace Walter Hamada, who officially left the position last week, having been the president of DC Films since 2018.
Gunn's new role was met with much excitement on social media.

Actor Rahul Kohli congratulated the filmmaker, writing: "Congratulations James, the future of DC is in safe hands."
This was echoed by Matt Ramos, who added: "JAMES WE LOVE YOU! You are the man! DC fans are celebrating right now."
The news was also celebrated by WBD CEO David Zaslav in a statement too.

As well as expressing his excitement on Twitter, Gunn released a joint statement with his new co-CEO, Safran.
