Leno explained: "I was working on a car and I got a face full of gasoline and it caught fire," before joking: "I had been eating a Flamin' Hot Dorito and when I bit into it, it set my face on fire."
After surgery, he was released from hospital shortly before Thanksgiving.
Speaking about his 'new' look, Leno added: "This is a brand new face. It is. It's unbelievable."

Last December, in his first interview since the incident, he told US news show Today that he had been saved by a friend who had jumped on top of him to smother the flames.
“It was a 1907... a white steam car. The fuel line was clogged and I was underneath it trying to unclog [it],” he said.
“I said ‘blow some air through the line’ and then suddenly, boom, I got a faceful of gas. Then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.
“And I said to my friend ‘Dave, I’m on fire’ and… oh my God, my friend Dave pulled me out and jumped on top of me and it kind of smothered the fire.”

Just months after undergoing surgery for serious burns, Leno also broke his bones when he was knocked off a motorcycle.
The comedian told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he broke his collarbone and two ribs and cracked his kneecaps on January 17.
“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” he said.

“So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late.”
The November garage fire and January crash both stemmed from his passion for working on vintage vehicles.
Leno turned his love of cars into CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage, while currently hosting a revival of the game show You Bet Your Life.
