Amid the confusion, How The Grinch Stole Christmas actor Jim Carrey has decided he's simply going to tap out completely and has announced he's leaving the platform.
But not before sharing a strange, random and baffling animation with fans.
While announcing his departure from the platform, Carrey had one last thing to say.

The caption reads: "I’m leaving Twitter, but first here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward [known for directing Horton Hears a Who!]. It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night.
"I love you all so much! ;^j"
The video shows an animation of a lighthouse, paired with trippy light beams dashing all over the scene and then suddenly a hairy ginger man springs out of nowhere and starts singing.

The lyrics sound like: "Angels fill this place with light/ And all is good and all is right.
"But darkness withers in your sight/ Angels fear this place with light/ Angels guide them through the gale/ Hold fast the stitching in their sail.
"I will burn my lantern bright. Til the break of day. Sweet angels hear me pray."

Cue the screen cascading into kaleidoscopic shapes of colour, thunder and seagulls sounding, the man bursting into slightly unnerving laughter and viewers left sat in stunned silence.
Despite the random nature of how he announced his departure, it couldn't really be more Carrey if he tried, nevertheless, viewers have flooded to the post in a mixture of confusion, but also outrage and sadness the actor's leaving the site.
One user wrote: "I shall miss you & your amazing artwork that made me laugh & kept my sanity intact! Thank you #JimCarrey."

A third argued that by leaving, Carrey is letting 'the bad guys win' - Musk having recently faced backlash for reinstating a series of controversial figure's Twitter accounts since buying the platform.
Other fans theorised Carrey is not actually leaving, and even if he does briefly, he'll definitely be back soon.
One said: "Guys! Don't worry. He's not actually leaving. No one who says they're leaving actually leaves, they just want well intentioned fans to say, 'NOOO! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE', so they can look at all the responses and feel important. Even if he actually leaves, he'll be back."
Another wrote: "Jim, I hope you come back after the dust settles. There are too few good hearts here and we need you.
"All the best to you. Take care of Jim. Hope you surround yourself with peaceful things and peaceful people."
At the time of writing, Carrey's account on Twitter still exists, so technically, he is still yet to actually leave.
