Jordan Peterson Called Out For Saying Sports Illustrated Model Is 'Not Beautiful'

Jordan Peterson has been called out on social media after sharing some unwanted thoughts on model Yumi Nu's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover.

The controversial clinical psychologist and Youtuber reacted to the New York Post's tweet of the cover alongside a link to their story on the model 'shaking' about the thought of it coming out.

Quote-tweeting the original post, Peterson said of the plus-size model’s cover debut: “Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that.”

Unsurprisingly he then copped a lot of flack from Twitter users who took issue with his incredibly dated views on what beauty is.

“’Authoritarian’? Chunky women on magazine covers? You sound like a parody of you,” one Twitter user wrote.

“It’s a conscious progressive attempt to manipulate & retool the notion of beauty, reliant on the idiot philosophy that such preferences are learned & properly changed by those who know better,” Peterson responded, with two links to scientific studies on attractiveness.

“But don’t let the facts stop you,” he finished.

However, another Twitter user also wrote: "What defines her as not beautiful? Is beautiful not confidence, sensuality and positivity?

"Perhaps not everyone has the same standards, but what defines someone that is NOT beautiful is most certainly not present here. #YumiNu".

Even self-confessed fans of the conservative critic were unhappy with his statement.

One Twitter user wrote: "I'm a huge fan of yours & am always getting my young adult sons & daughter to watch your videos. I've even gifted your self-authoring course.

"But I have to disagree. Beauty is subjective. You can be older or heavier & still be beautiful. Is it standard beauty? No."

Another commented: "Why do men feel it's their duty to publicly pronounce their view on the attractiveness of women? Couldn't you just keep it to yourself?"

The Canadian is a best-selling author thanks to his book 12 Rules For Life and boasts nearly five million Youtube subscribers. However, he's not new to getting himself in hot water - as recently as January he tried to claim that he wasn't white on a podcast with Joe Rogan.

While being interviewed for the The Joe Rogan Experience, Peterson spoke of Michael Eric Dyson, a Black academic and a sociology professor at Georgetown University.

Responding to Rogan saying that Dyson had called him an 'angry white man', he said: "I am white - actually that's a lie too. I am kind of tan. And he was actually not Black, he was sort of brown."
