Lizzo has responded to the haters after a troll's attempt to body-shame her massively backfired, prompting an influx of Twitter love for the singer.
Back in 2021 (bear with us here), Lizzo posted an unedited selfie as part of a Dove campaign aimed to ‘change the conversation about beauty standards’.
In the snap, a nude Lizzo is sitting in a chair holding a drink, staring down the camera defiantly.

She wrote: “WELCOME TO TAURUS SEASON. To celebrate I wanna give y’all this unedited selfie... now normally I would fix my belly and smooth my skin but baby I wanted show u how I do it au natural - I am excited to be partnering with @dove and the #DoveSelfEsteemProject which is helping to reverse the negative effects of social media and changing the conversation about beauty standards. Let’s get real y’all.”
The image resurfaced this week when a Twitter user shared it alongside a screenshot of an article from that year about her bold post, which was titled ‘Lizzo just shared an “unedited” naked selfie to “change the conversation about beauty standards”’.
“Thanks, but my beauty standards remain unchanged,” the US Twitter user - @CasuallyGreg - wrote.

This prompted a pile-on of trolls, including one person called Cassandra who posted a photo of herself, writing: “Me or Lizzo?”
But the tweet - which has since been deleted - seriously backfired, as many fans sided with the ‘Juice’ singer.
One replied: “Lizzo. I don’t know you but Lizzo is a publicly kind and inspiring individual. Loving yourself and others should be the basis of humanity. She preaches that. I can only assume you’re terrible.”

Another wrote: “One has four Grammys and is classically trained on the flute. The other just posted a six year old blurred picture of herself drinking wine with ice from a straw. Lizzo. Truth hurts.”
Someone else pointed out that ‘Cassy’ had used a ‘dark blurry hard to see photo’ compared to Lizzo’s bright, unedited nude, and yet ‘people are still choosing Lizzo’.
A fourth asked: “To do what? You need to be more specific. To hang out with and have fun? Lizzo every single damn day. To clean out my garage? I guess you might be okay for that. It’s all in the details, ‘Cassy.'"
Lizzo even responded, apparently backing herself by simply posting: “Lizzo.”

Lizzo’s original Instagram post, which was liked by more than 2.4 million users, prompted a similar debate - with some arguing it was about ‘health not beauty’.
However, many of her fans turned up to praise the ‘natural beauty’ for keeping it real, with one saying: “Brilliant. You go girl.”
Another told her: “You are a role model to women everywhere!!! Thank you!!!!”
