Britney Spears has revealed the real reason why she shaved her head back in 2007 in her upcoming memoir.
The star is gearing up for the release of her tell-all book, with shocking personal revelations already coming to light after excerpts were published yesterday (October 17).
But one of the biggest bombshells sees the singer discuss her infamous decision to shave her head.
In February 2007, the singer made headlines for removing her hair in a Los Angeles salon, a moment that would live forever in pop culture.

In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir The Woman In Me, the pop star has discussed why she decided to ditch her brown hair.
“I’d been eyeballed so much growing up. I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager,” she writes in an excerpt shared with PEOPLE.
“Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back,” Spears added.

The pop icon entered a conservatorship under her father in 2008, which stripped her of her rights to most personal matters, including the handling of basic finances, her personal life, her health and estate.
“Under the conservatorship I was made to understand that those days were now over,” she wrote.
“I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape. I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take.”
Spears' conservatorship finally was terminated in November 2021 after the #FreeBritney movement, which kicked off in 2019 amid allegations that she had ceased performing because she was being held in a facility by her father against her will.

During the trial, the ‘Toxic’ singer delivered an emotional plea to a Los Angeles court, revealing she ‘just wants her life back’.
“I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated,” Spears said.
“This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good,” she added.

“I deserve to have a life … I’m great at what I do. All I want is to own my money … [and] share my story to the world. I want to be able to be heard.”
After the singer was declared free from her lengthy conservatorship, she took to Instagram to celebrate with a glass of champagne in hand.
“I’m celebrating my freedom and my B day for the next two months,” she wrote.
“I mean after 13 years…I think I’ve waited long enough. I’m so happy my lawyer Mathew Rosengart came into my life when he did… he has truly turned my life around… I’m forever thankful for that.”
