Dakota Johnson has addressed that interview with Ellen DeGeneres, which people dubbed the most award moment in Ellen Show history.
The star of Fifty Shades of Grey had a horribly awkward encounter with Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on the show in November 2019. Watch for yourself below:
It all started when DeGeneres asked the star about the celebrations for her birthday, as she had turned 30.

The host joked that she hadn't been invited, saying: "How was the party? I wasn't invited."
But Johnson corrected her, replying: "Actually, no, that's not the truth, Ellen. You were invited."
She continued: "Last time I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of s**t about not inviting you, but I didn't even know you wanted to be invited... I didn't even know you liked me!"
When DeGeneres claimed to have no knowledge Johnson asserted: "Ask everybody."

She added: "But I did invite you and you didn't come."
After a tense back and forth DeGeneres eventually appeared to relent, saying: "You know what I think I do remember I was invited, thank you."
It seemed that the incident had since passed, only for it to resurface when Johnson made an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Barrymore asked Johnson about her relationship with her neighbours, with Johnson going on to say that her neighbour is in fact the US TV host Jimmy Kimmel.
The actor revealed that her neighbour often has a lot of parties, quipping that they are great neighbours, but they 'have a lot of parties and they don't invite me'.
Barrymore responded with a reference to the awkward exchange with DeGeneres, asking Johnson if she was actually not being invited. Check it out:
She said: "Is this for real? Because, you know, people have gotten in trouble for claiming not being invited to your parties."

Johnson replied simply by exclaiming 'oh my gosh' and swapping a knowing glance with Barrymore.
The star then burst out laughing.
But as to any further reference to the incident, Johnson was careful not to let anything else slip.

Barrymore added: "That was amazing by the way... like, amazing."
The incident recently passed its four year anniversary, with people taking to social media to recount their secondhand embarrassment.
One tweeted: "Dakota really clowned Ellen at her own show."
Another recalled: "4 years ago, Dakota Johnson called out Ellen DeGeneres for lying about not being invited to her birthday party."
A third wrote: "Four years ago today Dakota Johnson ended Ellen's whole career with 'actually that's not the truth Ellen'."
