Jamie Foxx says he was ’gone for 20 days’ while mysteriously hospitalized last year

The star has shared that he is on the mend after becoming ill while filming new movie

Jamie Foxx has opened up about an illness which saw him be rushed to hospital last year.

Foxx had been filming upcoming Netflix action comedy Back in Action in Atlanta, US, when he suffered what was described as a 'medical complication'.

The actor opened up about his stint in hospital to a group of diners in Phoenix, Arizona in an interaction that was posted to TikTok. Have a listen:

In the clip, Foxx reveals that he was rushed to hospital after complaining of a 'bad headache' and taking an Advil.

Speaking to patrons in the clip, Foxx said: “Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days."

He went on to describe how his daughter and sister had taken him to seek medical advice after the incident.

“I don’t remember anything,” said Foxx. “I’m in Atlanta, they told me… my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot.”

The actor then touched on the complications that he experienced.

Pointing to his head, Foxx said: “The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there. I won’t say it on camera. But it was…”

The 56-year-old actor's daughter, Corinne Foxx, confirmed in a statement to Instagram that he had suffered a 'medical complication' but was recovering.

She wrote: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.

“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

Foxx also issued a statement to fans updating them on his condition following his hospitalisation.

He also addressed what he described as a 'hellish' experience in a video on Instagram, explaining that he had wanted to be fully on the mend before making a public statement.

Foxx said: “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that, man.

“I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

Foxx has not publicly disclosed his illness, but clarified that he is 'on the road to recovery.'
