A 2022 interview with Mariah Carey has resurfaced following the singer's recent announcement.
The 'We Belong Together' hitmaker announced yesterday (Monday, August 26) that her mother and sister had both passed away.
Announcing the news, the 55-year-old said: "My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day."
She continued to tell PEOPLE: "I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."

Carey didn't share the cause of her mother or sister's death, but it's believed Alison, 63, was receiving hospice care before her death, as per BBC News.
In the wake of Carey's devastating news, an interview she did with Stephen Colbert is doing the rounds online where the Grammy Award-winning singer was asked about what she thinks happens to us once we die.
She proceeded to turn the question back on Colbert before insisting that she 'already knows' what happens.

"I have faith," Carey went on.
Defining what 'faith' means and seemingly quoting a Bible passage, which according to Carey is from 'Hebrews: 11', the singer added: "The assured expectation that things hoped for. The evidence of things unseen."
The audience then proceeded to applaud the mom-of-two as Colbert asked her if she'd ever considering 'teaching Sunday school'.
Her moving sentiments have since been reshared following her mom Patricia and sister Alison's deaths.
