Joe Rogan thinks we should all be paying close attention to the 'freaky looking motherf***er' that lurks deep in the ocean - and he's not talking about Nemo.
Nemo is perfect.
The influential podcast host was stunned after learning of the existence of a rarely captured sea creature that is known for having wild, tubular eyes.

The small, deep-sea fish are usually found in cold, tropical to subtropical waters around the world.
Formally known as Telescopefish, they originate from the fish family of Giganturidae.
Although small in size, they have pretty big heads with large, forward-pointing eyes and massive lenses.

Without the need for scales, its body is covered in abraded, silvery guanine, which imparts a greenish to purplish look in real life.
The size of the fish ranges between 15.6cm and 20.3 cm.
Alongside a few snaps of the Telescopefish, Rogan took to Facebook to share his bemusement.
Back in November 2021, Rogan wrote: "This is a telescope fish.

"This freaky looking motherf***er lives in deep tropical waters from 500 to 3000 meters and it can swallow prey larger than itself.
"The ocean is basically a big, beautiful monster soup.
"If we found something like this on another planet, it would be all people would talk about for months, but since it’s here we barely notice that our oceans have some insanely fascinating creatures."

Some of the fan comments were brilliant, with one person writing: "Legit looks like me rolling into the missos family brunch today."
Another joked: "See …this is why I’m reserved about swimming in the ocean. People be Naïve thinking s**t is Kosher, Homie that ain’t it."
While a third person pointed out: "Billy Connolly said 'There’s things down there with lights! We don’t f`**king belong down there!'."
Someone else also quipped: "Looks like me when I get up hungry in the middle of the night."

Speaking of fish, back in 2020, Rogan went on a full carnivore diet, which saw him give up vegetables, fruit, grains, nuts and seeds in favour of raw animal meat, fish and other animal foods like eggs and some dairy products.
Taking to Instagram at the time, the now-55-year-old said: "So I did the carnivore diet for all of January, I lost 12 pounds, gained a tonne of energy - my energy levels were completely flat the whole month, no ups and downs from crashing after eating.
"I had a belly; a lot of people made fun of me, fat-shamed me. I lost all my fat, I lost the belly, I lost my love handles. I don't know if I'm gonna keep eating like this but it was tremendously beneficial.
"I also have an auto-immune disorder, it's called vitiligo, and my vitiligo improved, I had a bunch of white spots fill in, so, I don't know."
Unfortunately, Rogan’s weight loss ultimately came at a (smelly) price and caused him horrific diarrhoea.
