"We can do things together, we can do things separately. I'm really, really glad that Danny and I were able to navigate some rough days to be able to have this different kind of relationship. I think it's pretty rare, but we agree on so many things that it makes sense."
The actor went on to say that she thinks their relationship 'probably worked out for the best', but that she does miss DeVito.
"Sometimes I wish we were still together because those were the glory days, but these are other kinds of glory days."

Perlman also spoke about her incredible role as Carla, the head waitress in Cheers, saying: "Cheers might have been everything in the beginning of my career, but family is everything, everything.
"If my relationships with my children were strained, I would be beside myself."
Perlman and DeVito have been in each other's lives ever since they met in 1971. The Cheers actor saw DeVito in the stage show The Shrinking Bridge and the pair hit it off.
Recounting their first date, DeVito said: "We had coffee at a place called The Cookery and listened to records," adding and that 'two weeks later she moved in' with him in an apartment on West 89th Street in Manhattan.

And you'll never guess who their fellow flatmate was? None other than Michael Douglas – the dinner parties must've been incredible.
Perlman and DeVito got married 11 years after, on 28 January 1982.
Eventually, the pair would play a couple in the classic kid's film Matilda and even founded a production company together.
The company, Jersey Films, went on to produce some major hits, including Pulp Fiction and Erin Brockovich.
