Identical twins marry identical twins making their children cousins and genetic siblings

Identical twins marry identical twins making their children cousins and genetic siblings

The couples met at Twins Days Festival in 2017 and got married just one year later

In a very unusual set of family circumstances, a pair of identical twins ended up marrying another pair of identical twins, making their children cousins and genetic siblings at the same time.

If you're confused, don't worry, we'll explain.

The unusual family dynamic all started when twins Brittany and Briana Deane met twin brothers Josh and Jeremy Salyers at a festival in 2017, and they quickly fell in love.

The two couples tied the knot a year later with a joint wedding in August 2018.

In fact, the couples now all live in the same house together in Virgina.

While they may see each other an awful lot, they try to keep out of each other's arguments.

Brittany told People Magazine last year: "If Josh and Jeremy are in an argument, Briana and I try not to get into it. If Briana and I are in a disagreement, Josh and Jeremy try to not get into it. That's probably good advice for anybody who's married."

No matter how tricky things get though, everything seems to work out in the end.

Brittany continued: "Sometimes I think you get used to living the dream, and it's nice to take some time to remind yourself of how badly you wanted it when you were younger, and how impossible it seemed at times growing up and when we were dating. And now we have it. So that keeps us strong."

Brittany and Briana also fell pregnant around the same time, making this story even more unbelievable.

In January 2021, Jeremy and Briana welcomed their son Jax into the world, while Brittany gave birth to Jett in April of that year.

While the now-toddlers are cousins, they are scientifically known as quaternary twins.

Quaternary twins happen ‘when one set of identical twins have children with another set of twins within a short period of time, usually less than nine months’, according to Web MD.

Legally Jett and Jax are cousins, but genetically, they’re closer to siblings born to the same parents.

The family have quite the following on social media, with the twins revealing recently how it was decided who dated who.

"We paired off by birth order – not on purpose... it was a natural gravitation!" they began.

"Briana and Jeremy are each the older twin. They fell in love and got married. Brittany and Josh are each the younger twin. They fell in love and got married also."
